Thasos. Two laws on the wine trade

Description: stele of Thasian marble(dimensions: h:0.95 m w:0.68 m d:0.20 m )

Layout: three texts appearing one above the other on the surviving face. The middle one, not addressed here, was inscribed only in the Roman period (second century AD ca.) after an erasure of the epigraphic field. Of the other two, the first one (I) begins on the top and it is almost complete; the last one (II) is a stoichedon, missing of an unknown number of lines at the beginning

ε͂σθαι πρὸ νεομηνίης Πλυντηριῶνος· ὃς δ᾿ ἂν πα[ραβὰς]
πρίηται, ὀφείλεν στατῆρα παρὰ στατῆρα, τὸ μὲν [ἥμυσυ]
τῆι πόλι, τὸ δ᾿ ἥμυσυ τῶι δικασαμένωι. δίκη δ᾿ ἔστω κα[τά-]
5περ τῶμ βιαίων. ὃς δ᾿ ἂν ἐμ πίθοις οἶνον πρίηται, τὴν ὠν-
ὴν κυρίην ἐ͂ναι, ἂν τὸς πίθος σημήνηται.

θωιαὶ καὶ ἀνενγύαι ἔστων κατὰ ταὐτά· ἂν δὲ μηδὲς ἀπ[εγγυ-]

δ᾿ ἂν νικήσωσι, τῆς πόλεως ἡ θωιὴ ἔστω πᾶσα· ἂν δὲ οἱ ἐπιτετ-
5ραμμένοι μὴ δικάσωνται πυθόμενοι, αὐτοὶ τὴν θωιὴν διπ-
λησίην ὀφελόντων· δικασάσθω δὲ ὁ βολόμενος κατὰ ταὐτά,
καὶ τῆς θωιῆς τὸ ἥμυσυ ἰσχέτω, καὶ τὴν δίκην οἱ δημιοργο-
ὶ δόντ<ων> κατὰ τῶν ἐπιτετραμμένων κα<τὰ> ταὐτά· μηδὲ πλοῖον Θά-
σιον ξενικὸν οἶνον ἐσαγέτω ἔσω Ἄθ<ω> καὶ Παχείης· εἰ δὲ μή,
10τὰς αὐτὰς θωιὰς ὀφελέτω ἅσπερ παρὰ τὸν οἶνον ὕδωρ παρα-
χέων, καὶ ὁ κυβερνήτης τὴν αὐτὴν θωιὴν ὀφελέτω· αἱ δὲ δίκ-
αι καὶ αἱ ἀπενγύαι ἔστων κατὰ ταὐτά· μηδὲ ἐξ ἀμφορέων μη-
δὲ ἐκ πιθάκνης μηδ᾿ ἐξ ψευδοπίθο κοτυλιζέτω μηδές. ὃς δ᾿ ἂ-
ν πωλῆι, δίκαι καὶ ἀπεγγύαι καὶ θωιαὶ ἔστων κατὰ ταὐτὰ κ-
